Anthropic's 2026 hiring reads as a sales plan, and the revenue behind it explains why. The run rate climbed from $9 billion at the end of 2025 to $65 billion by late July 2026, per TechCrunch and Axios the same day12. Investors reportedly expect $100 billion to $120 billion by year-end. Every hire the company made maps onto a job that number demands.
Forward Deployed, Fast Deployed
Anthropic's careers page lists Forward Deployed Engineer openings across at least three tracks3. A general FDE role. An Applied AI track. A Federal Civilian track aimed at government contracts. Deloitte separately advertises its own “Anthropic Forward Deployed Engineer” jobs. The consulting firm now runs Anthropic work as a standing practice rather than a one-off.
The title borrows from Palantir. Send engineers to work inside a customer's building, build what that customer needs, and let what they learn flow back into the product. Three parallel tracks, plus a partner version through Deloitte, signals a bet that enterprise revenue depends on custom work a self-serve API rarely supplies. The Federal Civilian track says where a good share of that money should come from. Agencies move slowly toward frontier models, and their buying cycles reward exactly the embedded-engineer model Anthropic built three teams around.
Five Offices, One Map
Geography tells the same story as the job titles. The newsroom confirmed Seoul as a third Asia-Pacific office in October 20254. That announcement put a number on why. "Seoul comes on the heels of new offices in Tokyo and Bengaluru, and together this expansion reflects the extraordinary momentum we're seeing across Asia-Pacific—our run rate revenue in the region has grown over 10x in the past year." Dario Amodei framed the choice of country directly. "Korea is at the forefront of AI innovation in Asia and we've already seen strong adoption of Claude in the region."
Paul Smith, the chief commercial officer, named the work itself. "Korean businesses are already some of the world's most sophisticated users of Claude, particularly for complex coding and enterprise applications."4 Coding is the tell. Weekly Claude Code users in Korea grew 6x in four months, per the same announcement. Paris and Munich followed that November, and the London hub kept growing through the same stretch5.
Five new or larger offices across two continents in about a year describes market entry, rather than vanity. Each one anchors a regulatory relationship, a sales team in the local language, and engineers close enough to a customer's data rules to win deals a remote team would lose.
The Finance and Product Layer
Behind the front-line hires sits a small set of executive additions built for scale. Krishna Rao, a former finance executive at Airbnb, joined as Anthropic's first chief financial officer6. A June 2026 Fortune profile put him in charge of preparing what it called one of the most anticipated IPOs in memory. Mike Krieger, the Instagram co-founder who later helped build Meta's product group, arrived earlier as chief product officer7. TechCrunch reported in April 2026 that he left Figma's board, after signals he meant to ship an Anthropic product competing with Figma's design tools.
Those two hires answer two demands from the same growth. Rao supplies the finance discipline a public offering needs. Krieger supplies the product instinct to turn Claude from a developer tool into a platform other companies build on.
A Chief for the Government Fight
The newest hire answers something apart from revenue or product. Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar, a former California Supreme Court justice and past president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, became the first chief global affairs officer on Aug. 4, 20268. He stepped down as a trustee of Anthropic's Long-Term Benefit Trust to take it.
His brief arrives amid real friction. The Pentagon labeled Anthropic a “supply chain risk” in February 2026, after the company declined to allow Claude's use in autonomous weapons or mass domestic surveillance8. A judge later called that label likely contrary to law. Commerce imposed export controls in June 2026 that pulled Anthropic's most capable models offline worldwide for about eighteen days.
Hiring a diplomat and judge into the executive ranks says Anthropic expects its government work to need legal weight rather than lobbying access. The trust works as an independent body meant to balance commercial pressure against the public-benefit mission. Moving one of its trustees into a line job crosses a line the company had kept clear. Anthropic judged the trade worth making.
Reading the Curve
Every category above traces to one number. The run rate grew from $9 billion to $47 billion between late 2025 and May 2026, then to $65 billion by late July12. That is $18 billion added in eight weeks, which few software companies of any age have matched. Forward Deployed Engineers win and grow the contracts behind it. New offices put engineers near the customers signing them. Rao readies the finance a public company needs. Krieger builds the product that keeps customers upgrading. Cuéllar handles the governments watching all of it.

Meta bought talent in bulk across the same stretch. OpenAI trimmed experimental leadership. Anthropic took a third route. Each hire fits a specific step in the revenue chain, closer to supply-chain work than to a talent war.
Anthropic's own numbers complicate that story under oath. Ed Zitron, who hosts the Better Offline podcast and writes the newsletter Where's Your Ed At, flagged a sworn declaration Krishna Rao filed on March 9, 2026, to defend Anthropic against the Pentagon's “supply chain risk” label, in which the CFO put revenue at “exceeding $5 billion to date”9. Anthropic's public claims that same spring ran as high as $30 billion in annualized revenue, a gap Zitron raised in a piece published May 21, 2026. “At this point it's impossible to reconcile the 2025 reporting with that $5 billion number,” he wrote.
