Ten AI stories moved today. Four of them turn on one question. Does the money pouring into AI prove real demand, or only that someone big enough agreed to vouch for it?
Broadcom answered first, with its own balance sheet. Read the other nine stories against that backdrop.
Wall Street Leases Anthropic Its Own Growth
A deal closed Monday night. Chips will ship by 2027. Four of Wall Street's biggest names agreed to put up $63 billion so Anthropic could lease them1.
Bank of America, Citigroup and Morgan Stanley arranged the senior loan. Blackstone alone backs the junior slice below it. Broadcom supplies the chips themselves. It also guarantees the senior loan if that hardware loses value before the lease ends13.
That guarantee covers $43.5 billion, about 69 percent of the whole deal3. Banks grew wary of AI spending two weeks earlier. Broadcom's chief executive, Hock Tan, spent the weekend on the phone with bank leaders. He agreed to pay higher interest to keep them in1.

Tan called the rescue evidence the structure works. "This validates that there is capital available to finance such growth and that Broadcom is uniquely positioned to enable it," Tan said when the deal was announced1.

Jim DeMare, Bank of America's co-president, framed the bank's own stake the same way. "This transaction brings together Broadcom's leading technology and significant bank capital to accelerate the buildout of compute capacity that will power the next wave of AI innovation," DeMare said1.
The Filing Answers the Question First
Anthropic's own paperwork reached regulators Monday too. Revenue reached $16.3 billion in the first half of the year. The net loss ran to $80.7 billion4.
Kyle Guske II reads the same filing for New Constructs, an independent research firm. His math runs past 20 times trailing revenue once every planned cloud and chip commitment gets counted2.
His point lands plainly. "Anthropic gets the compute needed to run its models from the same hyperscalers to whom it has committed to pay $518 billion," Kyle Guske II wrote2.
Anthropic rents the machines that make its product. The lenders behind Monday's deal are betting that rent gets paid on time.
Helios Chips Add Another $20 Billion Bet
AMD made its own wager months ago, and Monday's filing confirmed the size of it. Anthropic committed more than $20 billion to AMD's Helios systems, with an option for roughly that much again starting in 20275.
Money flowed back as well. AMD agreed to buy up to $5 billion of Anthropic's own stock as the hardware ships5.

Two companies now hold stakes in each other's success. Anthropic needs AMD's chips. AMD needs Claude's growth right back, to justify the stock it is buying.
Nvidia and AMD Buy Into Meta's Raise
Meta moved the same day, at a larger scale. It lifted its planned equity raise to $97.5 billion, up from $95 billion a day earlier. Investors had asked for five times more stock than Meta first offered6.
Nvidia put in $3 billion of that round. AMD added $1 billion on top6. Suppliers are now investors too. Both chipmakers own a slice of the customer that buys their hardware, the same structure drawing scrutiny in Anthropic's own filing.
Meta's $97.5 billion raise dwarfs Anthropic's $63 billion chip lease
Dollars committed in three separate AI financing deals announced Oct. 26 to 27, 2026
Each column is one deal's total size. Meta's raise is the tallest column, Broadcom's lease for Anthropic is second, and AMD's chip bet on Anthropic is third.

Google Unveils a World That Remembers Two Minutes
Genie 4 shipped Tuesday from Google DeepMind. It builds explorable worlds from a text prompt, complete with sound and dialogue. Simulations now run two full minutes, double what Genie 3 allowed7.
Markets remember what Genie 3 did. Unity Software fell as much as 24 percent in a single session when Google widened Genie 3's access in late January8.
Unity's chief executive, Matthew Bromberg, drew the line between a demo and a shippable game. He called Genie's output "unsuitable on its own for games requiring consistent, repeatable player experiences, because the frames are probabilistic"8.
Access stays narrow for now7. Google starts with trusted testers, before any wider release.
ChatGPT Moves Into Oracle's Office Software
Oracle and OpenAI expanded their partnership Tuesday, at the Oracle AI World conference in Las Vegas. Four new products let a worker run Oracle's own business systems through ChatGPT in plain English9.
Enterprise work already carries OpenAI's business. More than 40 percent of its revenue now comes from businesses buying it for their own staff9.
Oracle's cloud chief, Karan Batta, called the arrangement "a giant, very deep interoperable partnership"9. OpenAI president Greg Brockman described it simply as an expanded partnership that puts frontier models inside daily office work.
Hynix Banks the Memory Boom
SK Hynix posted its results Wednesday. Operating profit for the July-to-September quarter soared 632 percent from a year earlier. Demand for the memory chips that feed AI servers drove it11.

Sales for the quarter reached 104.61 trillion won. That is the company's sixth straight quarter of record revenue11.
Three Mathematicians Get OpenAI's Proof First
OpenAI says one of its models disproved the Exponential Time Hypothesis. The 25-year-old assumption concerns how fast certain logic problems can run10.
Three outside researchers will check the work before anyone treats it as settled. Russell Impagliazzo and Ramamohan Paturi at UC San Diego helped write the hypothesis originally. Ryan Williams at MIT joins them as a third reviewer10.
A broken assumption still leaves most real problems exactly as slow to solve. Even under the new math, the hardest versions could still take roughly a trillion steps10.
Clouds Report Today, a Column Away
Microsoft and Alphabet report quarterly earnings after markets close today. Analysts expect Google Cloud revenue near $29.15 billion, up sharply from a year ago. Microsoft's Azure business is growing fast alongside it13.
Numbers land after the bell. AI Lately's Technology column walks through what each company's AI line actually adds.
Labels Cashed Checks, Artists Still Wait
Universal settled with Udio last year. Warner settled with Suno the same year. Both deals paid the labels12.
The American Federation of Musicians says its members still wait for a share. Checks remain unwritten. AI Lately's Arts & Media column tracks where that money actually lands.
By the numbers
- $63 billion: total size of the Broadcom-arranged financing that leases AI chips to Anthropic1.
- 69 percent: the share of that deal Broadcom itself guarantees against a drop in equipment value3.
- $20 billion: Anthropic's committed spending on AMD's Helios systems starting in 20275.
- Five times: how oversubscribed investors left Meta's stock offer before it grew to $97.5 billion6.
- 632 percent: the year-over-year jump in SK Hynix's quarterly operating profit11.
- Two minutes: the length of a real-time simulation Google's Genie 4 can now sustain, double Genie 3's limit7.
- 40 percent: the share of OpenAI's revenue that now comes from enterprise customers like Oracle9.
What to watch
Watch Broadcom's own credit rating next. A chipmaker that guarantees 69 percent of its customer's biggest loan has made that customer's risk its own.
Anthropic's margins matter just as much, before the first AMD and Broadcom deliveries land in 2027. That is when a rented fleet of chips either earns back its lease or proves Kyle Guske II's math right.
