Gemini 4 Pro release date: what is confirmed and what is rumored

Google has announced one Gemini 4 model, Gemini 4 Argon, on September 30, in a post by Koray Kavukcuoglu. Argon is rolling out first to cyber defenders in the Fairwind Program, then to paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers "as soon as possible," at an introductory $2 and $10 per million tokens, rising to $4 and $20 after the introductory period, with a 1 million token context. Google has named no Pro variant and set no date for paid or consumer access. The Gemini API deprecations and changelog pages, read on October 6, list no Gemini 4 model ID.

Geeky Gadgets relayed an "October 2026" release window on September 20 from a YouTube channel, Universe of AI, with no Google statement behind it. A leaker, Pankaj Kumar, is reported to have said a first Gemini 4 Pro checkpoint existed with public release expected in October; the AILately.com Desk could open neither post, so both stay unverified. Bloomberg reported on September 30 that some Google employees say Argon underperforms its benchmarks on real coding work, which Google disputes.
